A point-and-click adventure game in which the player's task is to unravel the mystery hidden by the pier, more than a hundred years old. On this object forgotten by people in unexplained circumstances people died, and their presence is still manifested here astral beings. The core of the game is exploration of shivering locations, solving puzzles, searching for relics of the past and interacting with spirits.
Dark Fall: Storm Warning is a point-and-click adventure game enriched with horror game elements. The title is the fourth part of a popular series created by the independent studio Darkling Room - authors of Dark Fall 3: Lost Souls and games from the Crown series.
Story
Unlike earlier installments of the Dark Fall series, Storm Warning does not take place at an abandoned railway station, but at a forgotten pier. The player takes on the role of the last descendant of the Bazalgette family, who inherited this dilapidated object, closed to visitors since March 1988. After arriving at the place, it turns out that people have good reasons to have stopped using its benefits - not only are the noises coming from nowhere heard here, but also beings from the other side mark their presence. As if that wasn't enough, a series of disappearances, which began in 1894, was written on the pages of history of the place. The protagonist gets only one short night to explain the mystery of the ghostly place, built back in the Edwardian-era - the matter is hindered by a storm raging at sea, braved by the ruin with what seems an unnatural resilience.
Mechanics
In Dark Fall: Storm Warning the action is presented from FPP. The game was based on the exploration of the pier and adjacent buildings filled with objects designed to entertain visitors. Moreover, in search of relics of the past and answers to the questions we have to go deep into the North Sea. An important element of the game is solving environmental puzzles, while various gadget used by the protagonist turn out to be indispensable in contacts with spirits.
Technical aspects
The strong point of Dark Fall: Storm Warning are the visuals and the sound layer. First of all, a good impression is made by perfectly animated water and effects accompanying rainfall and lightning. The whole things is complemented by atmospheric music, which together with the sounds of the environment creates a suggestive, thrilling atmosphere.
