This appendix opens a new chapter in the history of the Dark Age of Camelot saga. Years of conflict and struggle have left their mark on the people of Albion, Midgard and Hibernia. The player's task is to find and defeat rebels trying to destroy the worlds. In addition, dark powers are looking for a way to use them for their needs. In the dungeons of Darkness Falls these powers gather powerful forces to conquer all nations. Naturally, the player's task is to save the world from chaos and perdition.

In the extension Darkness Rising there are new "master" levels. A player can deserve the title of Champion of the Realm. Of course, achieving such a title is connected with reaching subsequent levels of character development and the possibility of using a special, masterful weapon. In addition, thanks to the new levels, the player can develop his hero with new skills and abilities of other classes than his own, e.g. a warrior can learn the spells of a magician. Another novelty offered by this extension is the possibility of owning and riding horses.

Master's weapon is available to all Realm Champions - for each character class there is a specific weapon, specially tailored to the profession. On the other hand, fantastic mounts, e.g: Nightmare, Unicorn, Warhorse and Undead Phantom, are available for Champions with 45 or higher levels of development. Steeds can be adapted to their own needs by putting on various types of armour and panniers. You can also give them unique names.
