Dangerous is a production of an independent Binary Helix studio addressed to lovers of space-opera games. The title combines elements of RPG, action games, arcade and space simulator.
The action of the game takes place in the distant future. The title character, Dangerous, is released from a cryogenic prison where he served for several centuries as a punishment for causing the death of millions of civilians on the planet Tachi Prime. Someone (or something) considered that the former criminal could become a rescue for the universe, which is threatened by an unknown, alien force. Playing the role of a convict, the player has to find answers to many questions and, above all, take a number of choices, the result of which will be a saviour or annihilation for mankind.
Like classic space-sim games, gameplay allows for a lot of freedom of action. The player can explore 33 planetary systems connected by space-time tunnels, recruit pilots who want to act as wingers, focus on making profits from trade, join space pirates, and even get into a hot romance. Developers from Binary Helix studio made every effort to make the created universe vibrant with life, hence the presence of 15 factions, each of which is guided by different motives, as well as more than 600 star ships, which can be encountered in space.
More than 20 types of spacecraft of various purposes, flight parameters, as well as weaponry have been made available to the player. Each of them can be modified using more than 180 modules. In the course of the game, the battle sequences combining simulation, dexterity and tactical elements are of great importance.
On the technical side, Dangerous is based on the capabilities of the popular Unity engine. Its three-dimensional graphics make use of such visual effects as metallic shaders, dynamic lighting or refraction (lens flare). The soundtrack includes 22 pieces of music composed by Sean Beeson.
