Interactive story inspired by the works of H. P. Lovecraft. Dagon: by H. P. Lovecraft was created on the basis of a short story of the same title and is addressed both to those who want to learn more about the mythology of Cthulhu, as well as those who know it inside out.
Dagon: by H.P. Lovecraft is an adventure game about finding objects related to the story of Cthulhu's origins. In it, we explore various locations described in the story Dagon, and it takes about 30 minutes to complete the entire game. This is a free-to-play title. It was developed by Bit Golem, a Polish studio.
Plot
The hero of the game is a morphine-addicted former ship's officer. Feverish, he goes in his mind to the Stygian Abyss, where he has to face various nasties living on the island he visited. Parts of the story are described by a narrator who accompanies us throughout the game. The story is kept in a dark horror atmosphere, characteristic of H. P. Lovecraft's style. P. Lovecraft's style.
In addition to the plot based on the story, the game also contains many interesting facts about the creator of the Cthulhu mythology and the influence of his works on culture.
Mechanics
Dagon: by H. P. Lovecraft gameplay is not rich in mechanics and focuses on simplicity in narration. We observe the whole game from a first-person perspective. We don't have the freedom of movement around the available locations, created in full 3D, unlike many other productions of this type, but we can freely move the camera, whether with a mouse or VR set. Interesting objects are marked with a special white circle, which when clicked on tells us a part of the story or displays a text to read. After learning about the threads assigned to a particular location, we smoothly move to the next one.
Technical aspects
Game features dark graphics which corresponds to the mood of the story and the world created by H.P. Lovecraft. All models were made in 3D with great attention to detail, the lighting effects are also very impressive.
