Curling is treated in Poland as an exotic sport. Meanwhile, in many countries around the world, the sport enjoys popularity comparable to hockey, volleyball or football. In 2010, ActaLogic studio prepared a curling simulation for fans of sliding stones. The game turned out to be so popular that developers decided to produce the second part of the game, significantly improving many elements of gameplay and graphic design.

As befits a sports simulation, the game in Curling 2012 is based on authentic rules of this sport, which dates back to the Middle Ages. The aim of the game is to place one's own stones as close as possible to the target (the so-called house) on the pitch in the shape of a rectangular ice sheet and, at the same time, to knock out the stones of the opposing team.

The player has the opportunity to steer the actions of members of one of the 25 national teams, switching at the right moments between the position of the player and the other players. At the same time, the creators tried to render the complexity of the game as faithfully as possible. The stones, which resemble kettles in shape, must therefore be given the right direction, rotation and momentum, and then control their slide by properly brushing (heating up) the ice.

Curling 2012 offers several fun options. In addition to the classic match, there are also quick duel and tournament modes. You can play with a live opponent at one computer (the so-called hot chair) or via LAN/Internet, as well as against AI. In the latter case, it is ensured that the virtual players imitate the games that can be observed during real matches.

The control system in the game allows both more and less familiar with curling players to have fun. The first ones can take advantage of, among others, complex mechanisms of targeting and slider removal. For the latter, there are more simplified ways to control the curlers' actions, limited mainly to giving the stones the right direction and momentum.

Despite the fact that the visual setting of Curling 2012 has been significantly improved compared to the previous version of the series, it still deviates from the standards of modern sports games. This can be seen especially in the underdeveloped models of players and the very modestly presented interiors of the halls where virtual matches take place.
