Cubikolor is an original, three-dimensional logic game released on XONE, PS4 and PC. In the game the player controls a colorful cube that travels through levels of various colors. The game was created as a cooperation of two French developer studios: Fractal Box of which it is the first game, and slightly more experienced Moving Player, creators of such games as the humoristic stealth game – Level 22: Gary’s Misadventure. Cubikolor was awarded with creativity award during the European Indie Game Days 2015.
Mechanics
The objective of the game is to travel through 150 varied levels constructed of cubes of different colors and properties and to reach the exit – a field marked with a keyhole. During the game, players control a cube with six walls of different colors. Depending on which color touches which wall, different effects are caused. Among the possible effects there is for example raising or lowering a cube by one level. Sometimes one can find cubes with special effects which can make the game harder or easier. On each level player can obtain three medals given for completing the level, obtaining a good time or completing the riddle by using small number of moves. The game can be played in two modes: normal or hardcore.
Technical aspects
Cubikolor released on XONE, PS4 and PC has simple, three-dimensional graphics that fit the logical character of the game. During the game the construction can be zoomed and freely rotated which makes completing the task easier.
