Crystal Kingdom is an independent title, which is a combination of jRPG embedded in fantasy climates and complex elements characteristic for the MMO species. The game is especially distinguished by retro graphics reminiscent of the 90s - the golden age of 16-bit productions, such as Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy. Alias: Seyken Crystal Kingdom.
Crystal Kingdom is a free MMO game created by the independent development team EpicBeyond Studios, founded by several enthusiasts. The title, developed entirely in Java, is the successor to the fan jRPG entitled Seyken. The creators were inspired by real RPG classics such as Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger.
The story takes place in Arcadia, a land of fantasy filled with magic, whose source of power is a crystal of light. Dark Lord, though defeated by a group of daredevils led by a young warrior, Athos Presbyter, gains a powerful ally and returns to Arcadia even stronger. The forces of darkness are spreading through the land again. The task of the players is to restore the order of Arcadia. The title, apart from the main theme, does not lack numerous side quests, the creation of which has also contributed to the community of fans of Crystal Kingdom.
The game offers a lively, open world, diverse in terms of climate and divided into sectors, gradually discovered during exploration. Locations can be traveled either alone or together with other players in online cooperation mode, or you can meet more characters in the city center. At the beginning of the adventure we choose one of the six available character classes, each of which has a unique appearance and its own list of skills. The hero can be modified accordingly - from changing the hairstyle, through setting the age, to the choice of equipment.
In Crystal Kingdom we spend a lot of time not only exploring the open world and dealing with minor activities such as fishing or collecting various resources, but also on real-time combat and interaction with other players. For the bravest ones, there are many unique sets of equipment, which will be obtained from the bodies of fallen enemies (the system of a loot, randomly generated, modelled on the games from the sub-genre of dungeon crawler). The creators also developed a runic system, thanks to which we will increase the character statistics - the solution was taken from the last parts of Diablo. For fans of PvP mode (Player versus Player) there are special maps and arenas.
The visual setting was made in the style of pixel art, thanks to which it resembles other 16-bit titles such as Chrono Trigger or The Legend of Zelda. This is a real nostalgic return to the golden age of the jRPG species. As in other productions of this type, the action is observed from a bird's eye view, admiring the fairy tale, properly matching the climate of fantasy, graphic design.
