OpenCritic
Three-dimensional puzzle game in which we fight against characters coming from popular independent games and the... Osamu Tezuka's comic books. The title offers the possibility of multiplayer on a single screen or via the Internet.
Crystal Crisis is a three-dimensional puzzle game in which characters from various independent titles and comics meet. The game was developed by the American company Nicalis, which has been producing indie games and publishing titles from Japan since 2007. Thanks to the contacts established over the years, the developers have managed to obtain rights to use in Crystal Crisis characters from games such as Cave Story, Code of Princess, The Binding of Isaac, Umihara Kawase, as well as classic Osamu Tezuki mangas - Astro Boy and Black Jack.
Mechanics
Crystal Crisis combines the features of classic fighting games with logical elements. Upon starting the game players choose one of the twenty available heroes, who will represent them in a series of consecutive duels. On the left side of the game screen, there is a board with colored blocks. By manipulating them, players combine those in the same color with each other, activating a series of attacks hurting the opponent. The opponent loses the match when his life points drop to zero. While building a combo, players also load a special ability bar, which after using deals massive damage, which may decide about the outcome of the duel.
Game modes
In addition to the standard single-player mode, developers have also prepared multiplayer mode for up to two players - both local on the single screen and online.
Technical aspects
Crystal Crisis offers colorful and pleasant three-dimensional visuals. Each of the twenty heroes has a unique set of animations and attacks, as well as their own board and music theme. During the duels, the characters also shout out different kinds of issues and react vividly to what is happening on the screen.

Geeks Under Grace: 7 / 10 by LJ Lowery
Crystal Crisis is a fun spiritual successor to Puzzle Fighter that is simple enough for all ages to pick up, but it falls a little short compared to its crossover predecessor.
Nindie Spotlight: 8.5 / 10 by Justin Nation
All in all Crystal Crisis is a game laser-focused on a specific style of play that absolutely delivers a great value with various modes, characters, and quite a bit of personality as well...
GamingTrend: 80 / 100 by Abram Buehner
Nicalis' marriage of puzzle and fighting game elements in the fan service-heavy Crystal Crisis coalesces in a largely satisfying experience. While the roster can feel unbalanced, loading times can be long and the story mode feels trite, the overarching, nuanced gameplay will keep players strategizing and returning to Crystal Crisis time and time again.
