A graphically refreshed single-player campaign from the original Crysis 3, a first-person shooter released in 2013 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The game was developed by the creators of the series, Crytek Studio.
Plot
The story presented in Crysis 3 Remastered is identical to the original and tells of the final attempt to drive the Cepids from Earth. As in Crysis 2, the action is set in New York City, this time in the year 2047, 24 years after the previous instalment. The protagonist is the former Delta Force soldier Prophet, who appeared earlier as a supporting character and has vast knowledge of the invaders thanks to his contact with their leader, Cepid Alpha. In order to protect New York, the C.E.L.L. Corporation has built a huge dome over the city, increasing its temperature and turning the ruins into a jungle.
With the support of guerrilla fighters, including Crysis and Crysis: Warhead Psycho, Prophet seeks to uncover the corporation's objectives and rid the city of the dwindling but still menacing aliens.
Mechanics
Locations in the game have a very open structure, so each mission can be completed in a variety of ways. The nanosuit, which can turn us both into a living tank in armour mode and a silent assassin in stealth mode, gives us additional capabilities. It also allows us to move faster, jump high and lift heavy objects, which can be used to gain an advantage over our opponents in combat.
Available weapons include pistols, rifles and shotguns. Also new to the previous instalment is the bow, which can be used without draining the suit's batteries. In combination with high damage, different types of arrows and tension, it makes it a perfect weapon for silent elimination of opponents. We can equip our equipment at our own discretion with many types of sights, magazines or accessories such as grenade launchers or handles allowing a more secure grip of the weapon. In combat, we support ourselves with grenades, rocket launchers and C4 charges, and all resources are replenished by collecting ammunition from enemies or from special boxes located in various corners of the map.
By opening special C.E.L.L. corporation cargos, we earn unique packs that allow us to upgrade our nanosuit. Purchased upgrades are then arranged in special sets to be active during the game. We can make fights easier by marking our opponents before the fight, using a special viewfinder. In the darkness, in turn, we can use the nanovision, which allows us to see the temperature of all surrounding objects, including enemies.
Technical aspects
Crysis series is renowned for its high level of graphics, and the third instalment was no different. The Remastered version adds high quality textures, improved lighting and more detailed models and environments.
