Crypt of the NecroDancer: AMPLIFIED is an expansion pack to the well-received roguelike Crypt of the NecroDancer developed by Brace Yourself Games. AMPLIFIED takes place before the events of the main game. We play as the shapeshifting Nocturna. With her help, we will explore the dungeons ruled by the demon NecroDancer. Gameplay mechanics remain unchanged.

The Plot

Crypt of the NecroDancer: AMPLIFIED for PC takes place before the events of the main game. This time, we will play as the shapeshifting Nocturna and explore the same dungeons we saw in the base game. The expansion’s plot is presented mostly in cutscenes.

Mechanics

In terms of mechanics, nothing has changed in Crypt of the NecroDancer: AMPLIFIED for PC. The game is still a mixture of roguelike and music video games where we exlplore the titular, procedurally generated crypt, fight, and acquire more and more powerful equipment. Like in the base game, our opponents move on a grid of squares to the rhythm of music in their own unique style. Finding a proper combination of movements is the only way of defeating them. Be warned though. Like in every roguelike game, death is permanent in Crypt of the NecroDancer: AMPLIFIED, so every time we die, we will have to start from the beginning.

The expansion introduces some new elements, like the new types of quests or companions. Nocturna can be accpomanied by various pet pals during her adventures. The game’s OST was expanded with twenty new songs and additional remixes by FamilyJules, A_rival, and Girlfriend Records.
