Crusader Kings II: Rajas of India is the sixth major add-on for Crusader Kings II. It was developed by Paradox Interactive which also developed the original game and all the previous expansions.
As the title suggests, this production expands the place of action to India and Eastern Persia, offering the area twice the size of the original game. Rajas of India introduces hundreds of provinces in Central Asia, and the playable terrain extends even to a part of Siberia. Thanks to Crusader Kings II: Rajas of India, the European rulers controlled by players may expand their influences to new lands, but the biggest attraction is the possibility of assuming the role of an Indian raja. The game starts sometime between 1066 and 1337. Moreover, the owners of the previous add-on, Crusader Kings II: The Old Gods, get to start even earlier – in 867.
Before we start to reign as an Indian raja, we have to choose between three religions – Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. This decision has a major impact on the later gameplay, for every faith has its own set of pros and obligations. There are also numerous new elements available, such as jungles and elephants, and most of all, a caste system which is totally different from feudalism known from the original game.
Crusader Kings II: Rajas of India also offers a unique set of historical events and decisions to make by the player. Moreover, it brings a new interface skin, more fit for the Asian atmosphere. New multiplayer modes and mods supported by Steam are also big news. These features were introduced first in Europa Universalis IV, and then transferred to the previous game in Paradox Interactive’s catalogue.
