The eleventh expansion for the 2012’s Crusader Kings II, a game by Paradox Interactive. Conclave significantly expands and strengthens the role of vassals in the game, allowing the council that governs our realm to gain some actual influence over our actions.
Crusader Kings II: Conclave, available on PC, is an expansion to a strategy game called Crusader Kings II. Both games were developed by Paradox studio. The expansion requires the original version of the game.
Mechanics
Crusader Kings II: Conclave significantly expands and strengthens the role of the vassals in the game. With this add-on, the governing council of the kingdom's lands will demand a real influence on our decisions. Every duke under our authority will begin to expect us to be respected and listened to, regardless of whether he or she has any competence at all. Those who are disregarded may feel so offended that they start conspiring against the king. The priority is therefore to satisfy the council members, as this minimises the risk of civil war or rebellion. It is not easy, however, because each vassal has different goals and personality, and reconciling often opposing ambitions will require great virtuosity.
When Crusader Kings II: Conclave is installed, the council is given the opportunity to vote on changes in the laws governing the kingdom. Of course, the player can try to limit their influence thanks to the addition of a lot of new opportunities for intrigues. In addition, the system of teaching the descendants of the monarchs has been redesigned by adding new features and events.
The authors have also strongly modified the diplomatic system - it now places much greater emphasis on alliances sealed with marriages, the ability to form coalitions and creation of non-aggression pacts. The combat system has also been improved. Morales play a much bigger role now. Also, the expansion adds a few changes to the mercenary units.
