The second installment in a series revolving around running a tavern. Crossroads Inn 2 has us building our own inn, preparing recipes, recruiting employees and shaping history through RPG-inspired quests.

Crossroads Inn 2 is a strategy game with simulation and RPG elements. It is once again set in Delcrys - a fantasy world inspired by the transition period between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, having us play as a tavern owner. It's up to us what kind of innkeeper we'll be: whether we focus on our own business or get involved in complex political intrigues.

Mechanics

Crossroads Inn 2 begins with the player creating their tavern to draw in travelers. We must set up the bedrooms and the main hall, take care of the vegetable garden, plan the menu and create recipes. Our selection of furniture, provided services and the tavern's overall quality affects what kind of people'll frequent it. Our business can attract commoners, nobility or shady criminals.

Regardless, we must make sure our customers are satisfied with their time here. We'll recruit employees to fulfill their whims and train them to help them improve at their craft. Our actions affect the tavern's reputation - by growing more famous, we'll draw in more customers and increase our profits.

The world of Crossroads Inn 2 is living and constantly changing. Even a simple innkeeper can shape it to a certain degree. The game features conversations and quests as in an RPG (minor requests, investigations and such). Depending on our choices, we might start pulling strings on a nation-wide level, become a local politician, an all-knowing spymaster, or stay a simple innkeeper avoiding all major intrigue.

Technical aspects

The second installment leaves the Esenthel engine behind in favor of Unity, which allowed for many of the game's features to be developed, such as ergonomics, NPC pathfinding and behavior. Crossroads Inn 2 heavily emphasizes more realistic visuals (including different appearances of people from different countries), making them represent the gameplay better.
