Original jRPG, in which we move to hell. Players take on the role of the guardian of the souls of seven young girls, who must repent of their sins. If, with our help, they can climb to the top of the hellish towers, they will have the right to be born again in the real world.
Criminal Girls is an original jRPG , in which we take care of the souls of seven young girls, serving in hell and hoping for reincarnation. Imageepoch studio is responsible for creating the game. Founded in 2005, the team specialized in jRPGs, delivering such titles as the Luminous Arc series, 7th Dragon or Fate/Extra. After a series of financial failures, the developer announced bankruptcy in 2015.
Story
Criminal Girls takes us to hell. The players are the supervisor of a special program aimed at saving the souls of sinners. We take care of seven souls of young girls who are given a chance for reincarnation. In order to achieve this goal, they have to climb to the very top of the infernal tower and overcome the monsters that live there. The story is presented in the form of standard visual novel.
Mechanics
Criminal Girls is a two-dimensional dungeon-crawler with a turn-based combat system, which is enriched with unique elements related to character progression. Players command a team of four and visit subsequent levels of the infernal tower. During the exploration our proteges have to face numerous enemies and bosses. During the duels, which take place on a separate screen, we do not give direct commands to the heroes, but choose the order of attacks and special skills suggested by the characters. Our task is also to "motivate" disobedient girls by administering various punishments, which are part of a special mini-game. By choosing the right tools and methods, we can slowly reform our client, increase her statistics, and get to know her past better.
Technical aspects
Criminal Girls' audiovisual setting does not impress, but also does not deject. The devs decided to use simple two-dimensional locations and animations that remain pleasing to the eye. Most of the dialogues and cut-scemes feature voice acting.
