Crescent Pale Mist, released on PC and PS3, is a mix of an action RPG, platformer and shooter, prepared in the style of games such as Castlevania and Ys series. The game offers gameplay typical of 2D action games, mixing three-dimensional and two-dimensional graphics to achieve interesting visual effects.

Plot

In Crescent Pale Mist, we play the role of Yunou, a witch endowed with the powers of Pale Mist. Yunou is sent to stop the release of the toxic Pale Mist strain to the outside world and to discover who is responsible for this state of affairs. There are six large, complex stages full of secret passages, alternative paths and additional challenges to overcome. Each stage is full of a variety of enemies and bosses, but by exploring them properly, we gain powerful items and experience that will prepare our character to fight the enemies we meet.

Mechanics

The gameplay in Crescent Pale Mist is a mix of sword and magic combat and exploration of huge, non-linear stages with non-linear structure and additional secrets. Yunou jumps a lot and often casts spells because many enemies are completely invulnerable to her sword. She can also use teleportation, throw daggers or make double jumps to help her get to seemingly unreachable places. In addition, with the help of special combinations, we can make combos and use ancient magic, which is as powerful as it is dangerous. Boss battles are among the most demanding parts of the game and are often divided into several phases. In some of them, Crescent Pale Mist turns at times into a shooter in which our character flies.

Technical aspects

Crescent Pale Mist doesn't offer great-looking graphics, but nice portraits of characters and beautiful music positively inspire for further fun. The game also features a gallery and has the option to listen to music, as well as additional difficulty levels prepared for the most demanding players.
