Craftomation 101 is a logical and strategy game enriched with simulation elements. It's based on mechanics reminiscent of, among others, the iconic Colobot project. The game was developed by Luden.io - an independent Russian development studio, founded by former employees of the Nival company, which has in its portfolio, among others, a similar game while True: learn().

Plot

In Craftomation 101 we find ourselves on an ice-covered planet and our task is to terraform it and make it habitable. If we were to act alone, the whole process would take us over 9000 years. Fortunately, we have small robots called ProduMats at our disposal, willing to carry out our commands, which can significantly speed up the unfreezing of this celestial body.

Mechanics

In Craftomation 101 we watch the action from a bird's eye view. During the game our primary task is to collect raw materials and create various types of items, objects and structures. With their help, we gradually unfreeze the planet, step by step gaining access to its various areas.

Although initially we remove ice on a small scale (for example, using fires that allow us to get rid of it from a small piece of land), over time our terraforming takes on a much larger scale, allowing to start fires or plant trees to produce oxygen.

The gameplay is based not only on the use of crafting mechanics, but also on programming. The game doesn't force us to do everything on our own, but allows us to use robots. Initially, we only have a single machine, but over time we can create additional units willing to work.

We assign tasks to robots using a system based on visual programming. We can use simple commands, such as "go to the destination", "lift", "connect" or "move to the clipboard". With their help, we create action schemes, based on which our robots will fulfill their duties.

It is worth remembering that ProduMats live not only by work, and the issue of "feeding" them plays an important role here. Without food, they will lack the energy to perform their tasks. Although there is nothing to prevent us from feeding them by hand, we can just as well program them to do it on their own.

As we progress, we gain access to new resources and increasingly advanced structures. Moreover, over time we unlock improvements for our robots, as well as additional commands that we can issue to them.
