A third-person adventure game starring Dawn the cat. Copycat is an emotional tale about bonds and separation, as the protagonist is replaced by the titular copycat and must find a way to return to her owner.
Copycat is a narrative third-person adventure game starring a cat stuck in a shelter. The protagonist must reclaim her home, taken from her by a mysterious impostor, while facing moral dilemmas along the way. It's the debut game of an indie Australian studio, Spoonful Of Wonder.
We play as Dawn, a cynical cat living in a shelter. She prefers freedom, and so she plans her escape - however, to her surprise, she ends up adopted by Olive, a lonely old lady, as a bond is forged between them.
This all comes to an end when her new owner falls ill and a cunning impostor takes Dawn's place, condemning her to the streets. The cat must therefore find her way back home.
Copycat has us living a feline life. We can play Dawn as a supportive pet, accompanying Olive in her time of need as her illness progresses. She can also be rather mischievous, stealing food of plates and unrolling toilet paper.
Alongside the emotional story, exploration plays a large part in the game too. At first we're limited to Olive's house and its neighborhood, but as the titular copycat appears, Dawn ends up on the streets. We'll face difficult weather, traffic, aggressive dogs and hunger, needing to find food and hunt birds. Many of the activities are Quick Time Events, requiring reflexes and timing.
Copycat includes multiple hours of professional voice acting. The soundtrack was composed by Daniel Bunting.

Game Ratings for Copycat Video Game.
MKAU Gaming: 7.5 / 10 by Stacie Cotton
I love a gaming experience with a side of tear-jerking emotion. In saying that, by opening with the disclaimer of touching on hard topics, I knew ‘Copycat’, by Indie Australian developer, Spoonful Of Wonder, was going to be an interesting ride.
The Gamerheads Podcast : by Katrina Smith
Copycat did what it aimed to do, tell the story through the lens of a cat and leap through a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the narrative. The audio cues made me hone in on my own emotions and guide Dawn to overcome her fears and insecurities. I truly did enjoy the game, as I went back through 1.5 more times to finish the Steam achievements, and did find additional items and minigames each time that I didn’t interact with in my first playthrough. One thing that I did find challenging was the quick time events with one at the very end not allowing me enough time to hit all the correct buttons. Thankfully, the timer went away and allowed me to continue forward. If you are looking for an emotional story to play I recommend pouncing on Copycat.

Copycat really was an emotional roller coaster and kind of tough in the way that some emotional movies are hard to watch. The second half of the game picked up the pace and delivered a beautiful ending, but it took some time to get there.
