Cool Boarders 2001 is the fifth installment of one of the most popular series of sports games. It is also worth mentioning that this is the first title from this series, which was decided to release on PS2. The previous four games were released for the first generation of PlayStation. Cool Boarders 2001 in many respects resembles the well-known SSX series, giving you the opportunity to perform tricks using a snowboard. This product, however, offers a more realistic approach to this subject than in the case of games released by Electronic Arts. This means that the tricks to be fired could also be made in a similar form in reality. The same applies to the trails, clearly modelled on the real mountain slopes. The game is produced by Idol Minds studio, which also developed the two previous parts of the series, that is Cool Boarders 3 and 4. This production was released exclusively for Sony console.

We have at our disposal several quite standardized modes of play. In our career, of course, we try to advance to the next level. In order to do this, you have to perform the tasks entrusted to you by the game. Most often this means that certain tricks have to be fired. Apart from that, from time to time we take part in simultaneous descents with other champions of this sport. In this case, it is not only the position at the finish line that counts, but also the quantity and quality of the tricks made along the way. As in many other games of this genre, you can choose one of the ready-made characters, or create your own snowboarder from scratch.

The system responsible for the firing of individual tricks is very simple and at the same time very clear. Only a few keys are used for this purpose. The visual setting of the game was quite mediocre. This applies both to the poorly crafted main character and to the not very interesting environment. The professional soundtrack, prepared with the participation of such bands as Fear Factory or Stone Temple Pilots, is worth noticing. Cool Boarders 2001 has not very complex multiplayer for two people.
