Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances Description
After the liquidation of the EA Los Angeles development studio which kept watch over the Command & Conquer franchise, the brand owner, Electronic Arts, has decided to entrust the development to BioWare Victory and EA Pheomic. The latter were given the task to create a browser-based game reminiscent of the Tiberium subseries.
The action of Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances is set in the well-known world of the future, in which a fight for the eponymous mineral, Tiberium, is going on. The players can join one of two playable factions - the GDI (Global Defensive Initiative) or the Nod (Brotherhood of Nod). The third side of the conflict, led by computer artificial intelligence, are mutants called the Forgotten.
The game is based on the popular and proven pattern. The players build their own base, extract raw materials, develop technology, create armies, and then take part in spectacular battles, attacking others or defending themselves from attacks. Most of the available units were borrowed from Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium War and a few come from Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight. Battles are played in real time, although commanders can pre-set the order of attack of individual units.
As befits a browser MMO, the game offers a number of social features, allowing to create a list of friends, invite friends, and exchange correspondence. The most interesting element of gameplay with live players is the option of alliances and waging war with rival clans.
Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances has an attractive visual layer for this kind of production. The used engine takes advantage of HTML5, so that the game runs on any device equipped with a web browser that supports this technology (e.g. Internet Explorer 9 or Firefox 9).
The title utilizes the free-to-play business model. Some items and facilities are available only via the built-in micropayment system.
