In Colossal Cave Reimagined by Roberta Williams, players take on the role of a traveler who traverses the title cave in search of hidden treasures. Solving puzzles and facing various opponents, the protagonist tries to find all the valuables and leave the underground labyrinth in one piece.

The overarching gameplay element is the exploration of a vast cave system (consisting of fifteen extensive locations) and solving puzzles.
