OpenCritic
Classic, two-dimensional "walking" brawl, reminiscent of the titles popular on slot machines in the 90s. Coffee Crisis created by Mega Cat Studios is characterized by a simple gameplay model and a solid dose of humor.
Coffee Crisis is a funny beat'em up in which we play the role of... metal-listening baristas, fighting the alien invasion. The production is based on simple but satisfying gameplay, known for the games popular in the 90's, such as Golden Axe, Final Fight or Double Dragon. The independent developer Mega Cat Studios is responsible for its creation.
Plot
The ominous Smurglian race found its way to Earth. The aliens will not rest until they steal the most precious things people have: heavy metal, free wi-fi and coffee.
Mechanics
Coffee Crisis is a classic representative of the beat'em up genre. The action is observed from the side perspective. While controlling our hero (several different characters to choose from), we move to the right and exterminate subsequent opponents with the use of different attacks and elements of the environment (which we can throw). The creators have prepared a set of different levels.
The gameplay in Coffee Crisis also contains some roguelike elements - the game lasts until our hero dies or we finish the game (so called single session gameplay). Mofidiers are another attraction, thanks to which each approach will be slightly different from the previous one.
Game modes
We can play Coffee Crisis alone or with others - in the local cooperation mode. For the brave, there is also an extremely difficult Death Metal mode.
Technical aspects
Coffee Crisis has a fairly simple, two-dimensional graphic design, which does not differ from similar productions. The game also features a huge dose of humour.

[1:12] Coffee Crisis trailer #1
Worth Playing: 5.5 / 10 by Cody Medellin
In the end, Coffee Crisis is a game that weakly tries to inject some roguelike qualities into a less-than-average brawler.
SelectButton: 6 / 10 by Kevin Mitchell
Coffee Crisis is a throwback title that stays true to the intention of releasing a 16-bit brawler title with a hint of modern favor. I would have liked to see a bit more modern conveniences added to the gameplay, either through additional moves, either offensive or defensive. In my experience, the game's difficulty can spike quite high during some of the later stages on the higher difficulties, but the game is quite easy on the lower difficulty settings. If you are looking for a retro-inspired cooperative title to keep you busy for a couple of hours, Coffee Crisis is a good choice.

Many indie developers try to emulate classic games and few actually succeed at it.
