Clinically Dead Description
Held in a surreal, disturbing style, Clinically Dead for PC is a first-person perspective logic title with action, platformer, and stealth games elements. After Grimind, this is the second production by Pawel Mogila from Mogila Games studio.
Plot
The hero of Clinically Dead – Samson – is in the middle of… his death. The adventure takes place during his last moments – the titular clinical death stops the time stop for the hero, which gives him a chance to think his life over. This translates into travelling through this surreal world, which symbolises the hero’s mind, and talking with his own subconsciousness.
Mechanics
Consisting in manipulating time, logic puzzles play the key role in Clinically Dead. The world is 4-dimensional – the fourth dimension is the time represented by multi-coloured stains on the walls and ground. Your job is to manoeuvre these object so that they adjust to the right moment, which unlocks another location.
There is more than that. From time to time, you will have to jump on platforms and fight enemies. You can either defeat them with melee weapons or magic bullets, or you can sneak behind their backs.
Clinically Dead is a non-linear title. The author drew inspiration from the Metroidvania genre, and connected the locations with multiple paths.
Technical aspects
The production uses the power of Urha3D engine and even though the visuals are not really top-notch, they make up for it by generating a suggestive, mysterious, and disturbing style. Moreover, Clinically Dead put out on PC supports Oculus Rift.
