The second part of the popular free city builder, in which our task is to expand a small island town into a real metropolis. Compared to the original, the graphic design of the game has been improved, and the number of available buildings and ornaments has increased significantly.
City Island 2, released on AND and iOs, is a continuation of the popular city builder developed by the Dutch Sparkling Society studio, in which we deal with the expansion of the titled island city. The original made its debut on Android devices in 2012 and in the face of considerable success, it had several spin-offs, including City Island: Winter Edition and City Island: Airport.
Mechanics
The mechanics of the game haven't changed, and the fun in City Island 2 is still subject to simple economic dependencies. Our duties will, therefore, include placing new residential buildings, which will be inhabited by new residents and taking care of an adequate number of vacancies in various commercial buildings. Benefiting from their work, we will be able to power the city's cash register and gradually expand the small city to become a real metropolis. Of course, the satisfaction of the inhabitants will also have a significant impact on the pace of the city's development. We will take care of them by building more decorations and public buildings.
Technical aspects
Compared to the first installment, the changes are visible mainly in terms of content and graphics. The range of gradually unlocked buildings and decorations, with a total number of about 150, has been extended. The graphics of the game have improved significantly, although it still shows inspirations from the cult SimCity series known available on PC. The creators have also remained faithful to the proven free-to-play model with microtransactions, thanks to which we can buy premium currency and gain access to unique buildings.
