Circle Empires is an independent RTS game in a fantasy setting. The classic gameplay has been combined with unusual mechanics of conquest divided into circles of the world. Each of the circles represents a different region, which is distinguished by its own environment, flora, available raw materials and creatures inhabiting it.

Circle Empires is a unique real-time strategy available on PC, which takes place on circular, procedurally generated maps. The game is designed for single players. The game was developed by the independent team at Luminous.

Mechanics

After selecting the preferred game mode, difficulty level, and map size, we proceed to the game. The game has been designed in accordance with the spirit of classic RTS titles. We start the game with a small number of basic units and the simplest buildings at our disposal. We are systematically developing our kingdom by recruiting new units, acquiring resources, placing new buildings and conquering new territories.

The game world is procedurally generated, so the map looks a bit different for each game. In any case, however, it is divided into circles connected by narrow passages, which symbolize other lands where we can come across valuable resources, bandits or bloodthirsty monsters. Clearing a given circle from beings living in it enables us to add it to our kingdom. The biggest challenge are the boss fights, of which there is a total of 12.

Battles take place in real time and hundreds of units can take part in them. We can work on many fronts at the same time. Our troops gain experience points and levels after each battle, which directly affects their combat abilities.

Circle Empires features more than 150 types of monsters, buildings and resources. We also have 18 playable races at our disposal, each of which has its own leader with unique abilities.

Game modes

In addition to choosing the difficulty level and map size, we can choose one of two game modes. The first is the Boss Hunt mode, during which our goal is to defeat a powerful boss who lives on one of the circles.

The second available mode is Full Conquest. Here we have to clear and occupy all the circles/countries on the map. Only after fulfilling this condition can we feel like a true ruler and enjoy the triumph.

Technical aspects

Circle Empires began as a free demo available online. Thanks to the great interest of the players, the creators decided to expand their production to a full, improved version.

The visuals are very simple, colorful and pleasing to the eye. The style is reminiscent of some mobile games, especially Kingdom Rush from 2011.
