Mechanics

In Chinese Empire, we watch the action from a bird's eye view. During the game, all decisions related to the proper functioning of our empire rest on our shoulders.

We start the game modestly, with a small settlement. At the beginning, our main goals are gathering natural resources, farming the land (when deciding on the layout of the fields, one must take into account the terrain), breeding animals and producing food, as well as constructing basic buildings. All of this is done by our subjects, who should be assigned to specific tasks.

Buildings must be connected by roads to ensure that residents can move and transport goods between them. Over time, our settlement begins to grow, gradually turning into a thriving metropolis. During its expansion, the key to success is taking care of the road network and strategic placement of individual buildings.

As we progress, we can devote more and more attention to other pillars of our empire. Diplomacy and maintaining relations with neighbors play an important role here. They allow us to open trade routes and provide ourselves with access to additional sources of income, rare raw materials and goods. Furthermore, we should not forget about cultural development, as well as building fortifications, which, if necessary, will play a key role in defending our estates from outside attacks.

The game implements variable seasons. The changing conditions can affect the work of our subjects in various ways. For example, in winter they move slower, while heavy rains cause an increase in crops (whereas droughts - quite the opposite). Moreover, with the arrival of a new year, we can draw cards that provide us with various bonuses for the entire next year, influencing, among other things, employee productivity or the weather.
