Chicken Police is an original adventure game, developed by independent studio The Wild Gentlemen. Among the sources of inspiration for the creators you can find both classic noir films from the 1940s (The Big Sleep, Gilda, Double Indemnity) and video games like Grim Fandango and Snatcher.
Plot
Chicken Police takes us on a journey to the fictional town of Clawville, which is home to anthropomorphic animals. The protagonists of this game, Sonny Featherland and Marty McChicken, are legendary detectives who once made up a truly brilliant duo, but at some point their paths have split. While the first has fallen into alcoholism, the second hides the problems that have led him to the edge of the abyss. As they are forced to resolve a strange yet mysterious case, the protagonists must once again join forces and plunge together into the criminal world of Clawville.
Mechanics
Chicken Police mixes adventure games elements with visual novel games. During the game, the most important thing is to talk to over thirty characters. While some turn out to be unrelated, others hide a number of secrets which they reveal only during the interrogations. We meet them in different places; more than thirty locations are waiting to be visited in Clawville, and many of them change over time. As we make progress, we are getting evidence and clues (which will consequently allow us to complete the investigation), and... we are getting into a lot of trouble; enough to say that in the game there is a spectacular chase, among other things.
Technical aspects
Chicken Police offers an extremely original graphic design. The graphics was maintained in almost entirely monochromatic colours, and the backgrounds and animal characters in the game were made as realistic as possible. The impression of experiencing the interactive noir movie is intensified by the atmospheric soundtrack accompanying the game.
