Chess

The first computer simulation of chess and at the same time one of the oldest games that have been released for IBM PC personal computers with MS DOS system. The original program was written in March 1980 by someone named Michael Rakaska and transferred to the PC in December 1981 - a few months after the world premiere of this computer.

The program allows you to face the computer artificial intelligence according to all the rules in force in this one of the oldest board games in the world. The game does not foresee multiplayer games, but given the different skill levels of the potential player, it is possible to adjust the computer intelligence of the opponent in detail. The game therefore offers as many as 24 difficulty levels.

Considering the capabilities of PCs at that time, it should not come as a surprise that the entire game frame was created using ASCII characters. For the same reason the game does not work with any external controllers (mouse type), and the only possibility is to enter commands directly from the keyboard.
