Born in 1889, Charlie Chaplin was probably the most famous silent film actor. At the end of the 1980s, Canvas devoted a unique computer game to this colorful character, who has made its mark in the history of cinematography in golden letters.

In Charlie Chaplin we play the role of the title comedian, who deals with directing films with his participation. At the beginning of the struggle we receive several thousand dollars in cash and fifteen ready-made scenarios to choose from. Before deciding to make a film, the necessary expenses should be taken into account, such as the cost of production of a given scene, which also includes the payroll for other actors.

When we decide on a specific scenario, the time comes to implement it. Each film is divided into four scenes in which we can play the role of Charlie Chaplin. In addition to us, there are two other characters on the set, usually hostile to us. Depending on the characters, the comedian can do different things, such as kissing a woman's cheek or hitting a woman who wants to hurt him with muscles. When shooting a scene, avoid situations where Chaplin is capsized like a fire. Too frequent falls do not please the audience, who rate our work in cinemas.

When the film is ready, it's time to take stock of the efforts made so far. The action of the game moves to the cinema, where we can see in peace and quiet what we managed to create. All recorded scenes are interrupted by boards with lyrics, in the background you can additionally hear music. After the screening, the audience summarizes our efforts. If the film was funny enough, we can count on a lot of income from the audience, which will fund the account and allow us to shoot another work.

Charlie Chaplin escapes classification into a particular species. We have here traces of economic games, as well as a simple "dexterity game" during the shooting of subsequent scenes. The attention is drawn first of all to the good for those times visual setting and the possibility of saving ready-made films on disk, in order to later reproduce them.
