Plot
Chaos Rings II is set in the same universe as Chaos Rings and Chaos Rings Omega, but knowledge of these games is not required to understand the story. The plot is about the awakening of a creature known as the Destroyer. This embodiment of evil begins to cause great natural disasters and releases hordes of monsters on the surface. If nobody stops it, the whole planet will soon be destroyed. The divine creature called the Creator chooses from among mortals a hero, on whose shoulders falls the duty to stop the Destroyer. However, the price for this will be extremely high. To get the power needed to imprison the beast, the hero will be forced to sacrifice their closest friends.
Mechanics
The authors preserved the most characteristic element of the series - the writing. The story is brutal, first introducing us to each character and then forcing the player to sentence them to death. At the same time, the story has a lot of surprising twists, so the fun is driven by the desire to find out how it will all end. In addition, while playing, we often have to make hard decisions that ultimately lead the whole story to one of the four endings.
The gameplay traditionally focuses on turn-based battles in which we use a combat system that is simple to master, but offering a lot of tactical options. A key role in the clashes is played by the proper use of special skills of the team members. In later parts of the campaign, the characters also gain the ability to recall creatures known as Ophanim, who obey their orders.
Between battles, players can explore locations, talk, visit shops and take on side tasks. These sections are much more interactive than in previous editions, and there are numerous logical puzzles. Of course, there was no shortage of a development system in which, for the points of experience gained, we can improve the combat capabilities of the characters.
