Castle of Heart Description
Developed by the Polish independent studio 7LEVELS, Castle of Heart for SWITCH is a 2D platformer set in a fantasy world where the player assumes the role of a damned knight. The production utilises the side perspective.
Plot
In Castle of Heart, you control a damned knight who travels from a village turned to stone to a castle of a dark lord.
Mechanics
The game by 7LEVELS is a 2D platformer. You observe the action from the side and travel through locations, avoid obstacles, and fight enemies with an arcade combat system that enforces adopting particular tactics against particular enemies. The game offers dozens of levels within a few various locations (e.g. a village, a castle, etc.).
The energy mechanics of Castle of Heart make the game stand out from the crowd. The hero, who is turned to stone, wanes gradually, and the only way to regenerate is to keep killing. This means that you have to keep on going forward – if you stop, you risk losing e.g. his hand, which would make him unable to wield certain types of weapons. And these are abundant, including melee weapons (e.g. burning swords) and spells.
Game modes
Castle of Hear put out on SWITCH is a single-player game exclusively.
Technical aspects
The title features 3D visuals, and yet has a 2D style. Castle of Heart is inspired by Slavic mythology, which helped the game evoke the atmosphere of dark fantasy. Weather effects and lighting are also the production’s assets.
