Cardinal Quest, released on AND, PC and iOS, is an RPG roguelike. It was developed by Tametick studio.

Plot

Cardinal Quest doesn't offer extensive plot. The action takes place in a classic fantasy universe, and the player takes on the role of an adventurer who goes to the gloomy dungeons located near the town of Hallemot to find a powerful Minotaur named Asterion and put an end to his life. Of course, the path to the beast is full of other dangerous monsters.

Mechanics

As befits a typical dungeon crawler, the gameplay in Cardinal Quest is about exploring dungeons, killing monsters and collecting items. There are three character classes to choose from: warrior, thief and magician. Levels are generated randomly, and each death is permanent, forcing you to start the game anew. The combat system is arcade and although it is not complicated, the difficulty level of the game requires a good reflex.

The gameplay is designed to maximally automate repetitive elements. When we find a better item, the character equips it automatically and the old one is destroyed and converted to gold. Our inventory is never full of useless items. Instead, we can focus on looking for new loot. The system of skills has been done similarly - when we get a more powerful version of a given skill, the old ones are removed from the interface.

The goal of the authors of Cardinal Quest was to create a game that offers all the basic elements of the roguelike genre but also remains very easy to master and not very frustrating. All this so that we can play for a few minutes without stress and have the impression that we have achieved something during that time.
