developer: Elder Games publisher: Headup Games Official website
Cardaclysm is a strategic card game with RPG elements set in a fantastic world, in which we play the role of a magician trying to send back the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and their murderous minions spreading terror around the world. The game is the responsibility of Elder Games, known from the Meridian real-time strategy series. Behind the game is the studio Headup.
Plot
In Cardaclysm, we play the role of a sorcerer who overestimated his abilities and started experimenting with too much magic. The consequences of the abnormal ego led to the release of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who are now sowing chaos in the world with their henchmen. We cannot make the magical council learn about our progress and therefore we must send the dark creatures back to where they came from as soon as possible.
Mechanics
Cardaclysm is a strategic card game with a randomly generated world divided into biomes, including desert areas, wet jungles and icy wilderness. During their journey, the hero gains parts of the equipment that influence various statistics, and collects the cards necessary to create a powerful deck. The cards are divided into two types - one is offensive and defensive spells, and the other is the creature cards that we can summon to the battlefield. A wolf, a scorpion, a fairy, but also a human rogue or a forest spirit can fight in turn-based combat on our side.
Each creature differs in its life point pool, ability and type of attack. A well-constructed deck is the key to success, not only during battles with one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse acting as bosses here, but also during battles with smaller enemies that occur during the exploration.
During the game we can also visit an inter-dimensional pub to take up an order, take part in a special challenge, but also sell cards and items collected during the journey. We can also leave unnecessary equipment in the box for a more appropriate moment.
Technical aspects
Cardaclysm is a three-dimensional game with the action observed from the isometric view, with satisfying animations and atmospheric soundtrack.
