Card Crawl is a card game released on AND, PC and iOS. The game was developed by the independent developer Arnold Rauers.
Plot
Card Crawl takes us to an undefined fantasy land. However, its history and geography do not matter, because we spend all the fun in a gloomy dungeon, sitting at a wooden table opposite a mighty minotaur. Fortunately, the monster doesn't intend to eat us - it is busy with shuffling the decks and dealing cards.
Mechanics
In Card Crawl, the screen shows two rows with four cards in each. In the bottom row, one card represents the player's character, two items in their hands and the last is a backpack. The top row is entirely made up of cards dealt by the monster; some of them are enemies, which we must fight by using appropriate items.
The monster replenishes the cards only if there are three blank slots in the top row. This allows you to influence the course of the game and postpone the next hand, if necessary. The monster has 52 decks and our task is to defeat them without losing lives. Victory in each game gives us gold, which we spend on buying increasingly powerful cards.
Game modes
Card Crawl doesn't offer a traditional multiplayer mode, but it has online rankings that allow you to compare your achievements with those of the rest of the community.
Technical aspects
The two-dimensional graphic design of Card Crawl has been maintained in a cartoon style; the clear design of the cards and the intuitive interface deserve attention.
