A science fiction horror adventure game by an independent one-man studio, Incandescent Imaging. The action takes place in the future in which the eponymous caffeine is a valuable resource obtained in space with special mining ships. Aboard one of them, a young boy awakens and discovers that for some unknown reason the vessel is completely deserted.
Caffeine is an indie adventure production, kept in a science-fiction horror climate. The title has been developed by the Incandescent Imaging studio, which consists out of a single member – Dylan Browne. The game draws inspiration from renowned projects, such as Condemned, F.E.A.R. and Doom 3, and has been largely funded by its crowdfunding campaign.
The extremely popular caffeine is contained mostly in coffee, tea and cocoa, and is a highly stimulating alkaloid, the world’s most widely consumed psychoactive drug. In the undetermined future it becomes a very valuable resource, harvested in space with the help of uniquely designed vessels. In Caffeine we play the role of a young boy, who wakes up all by himself in a place similar to a spaceship or station meant for the previously mentioned purposes. As a result of unknown events the ship has been completely abandoned and it is our task to find out what happened in this mysterious place.
Caffeine is a FPP horror game, in which we travel through the dark rooms and corridors of a space station to discover clues that will lead us to the solution of the puzzle. Exploring and finding coded notes and recording is the core of the gameplay, as they hold the answers to the mystery which surrounds our new home. Our character has no idea what happened on the ship and why he was left alone on it. The skillfully crafted atmosphere of the title is further enhanced by the evocative soundtrack and the high quality graphics, guaranteed by the fourth installment of the Unreal Engine.
