Bushido Blade 2 is a sequel to the realistic fighting game from 1997. The game allows you to fight duels using several different types of weapons, where even one accurate attack can end the life of any of the fighters. The game was released exclusively on the PlayStation console. It was developed by the authors of the first part, the Japanese studio Light Weight.
Plot
Bushido Blade story campaign tells the story of two rival assassin clans that have been competing against each other for hundreds of years.
Mechanics
Bushido Blade 2 is a 3D fighting game based on similar rules as the first part of the series. We take part in duels using cold weapons (mainly - one of the characters also uses firearms), which take place on large, open maps. The player can choose from several warriors belonging to two schools of assassins, and also decide on the type of weaponry he wants to use (two new weapons can be found in second part of the series, but some types of weaponry from the first part are absent - for example, hammers or rapiers).
The game focuses on realism - battles can end even after one attack, and wounds affect the character's mobility, so effective dodging and parrying of attacks is necessary. As in the first part, the player can use three stances determining access to particular attacks.
Game modes
In Bushido Blade 2 we can play both solo and with another person. The game offers a story campaign and a local multiplayer mode. It's worth noting that the single player mode differs from the one known from the first part of the series - each time we play we fight a few battles with nameless ninja warriors, and then with one hero from the opposite clan, who plays the role of a boss.
Players can also take advantage of Slash mode, in which we try to defeat as many enemies as we can, as well as participate in a tournament (in the latter case, we fight with wooden weapons).
Technical aspects
Bushido Blade features 3D visuals that are slightly better than the first game in the series, with more detailed models and less blurred textures (though it's still not the prettiest fighting game available on the PSX).
