Burly Men at Sea Description
Brain&Brain Studio was founded in 2012 by a couple of David and Brooke Condolor. Burly Men at Sea is their second game.
Story
The game tells the story of three bearded fishermen who decided to change their monotonous lives and set off on a journey around the world. Burly Men at Sea offers many separate adventures that have one thing in common - they are short. Therefore, the game encourages multiple playthroughs. The whole thing was inspired by Scandinavian mythology and fairy tales.
Mechanics
Gameplay in Burly Men at Sea is a combination of a point-and-click adventure game and a visual novel. The fun is very simple. On the screen we see three fishermen surrounded by a special circle, which we move to the right and left, thus discovering the world. After reaching a building we can enter it and talk to the character inside. Depending on the direction we chose, the places we visit, the characters we encounter and the choices we make, the game's story changes. The title consists of a series of short stories - getting to know each of them takes several minutes. Apart from the adventures themselves, the game doesn't offer much, because during the game you have to show neither skill nor logical thinking. The game is simply about exploring and learning stories narrated by the player.
Technical aspects
The simple gameplay is complemented by modest but unique visuals with charming animations. Developers also prepared a funny soundtrack.
