Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing

Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing is an action game with simulation elements and mechanics typical of the roguelike genre (i.e. randomly generated maps and missions). This title is an improved version of Bow to Blood, which was released on PlayStation 4 in 2018 (it was an exclusive title for PlayStation VR goggles). Like the original edition, the game was developed by independent studio Tribetoy, also responsible for the fighting game Chu's Dynasty.

Plot

Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing takes place in an SF universe, where one of the most popular forms of entertainment are duels of large aircraft, played in specially prepared arenas. The player takes on the role of a captain of one such ship and gradually makes up a name for himself as a gladiator.

Mechanics

In Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing we observe the action from FPP. During the game we control our galleon using a special control panel. It is used to control the ship and to manage the energy - to transfer it to individual systems (engines, shields, armament and various sensors). At the same time, we also command a crew of drones, which we can send to fight against smaller adversaries or send back to operate individual elements of the ship.

It is worth noting that other captains are also fighting for victory, and each of them is endowed with an individual personality and motivation. It depends on us how we treat them - they can be our competitors, but also allies, with whom we share our prey (or whom we betray at the last minute, thus taking the whole loot for ourselves - such an option is also available).

In the fight we use a varied arsenal installed on our galleon. It consists of cannons mounted on the sides and a laser gun placed on the bow. In addition, we have a gun, which enables us to deal with less dangerous opponents by hand. The choice of available weaponry increases with the progress of the game - by gaining more victories, we gain the recognition of the audience and win valuable prizes. We also attract the attention of sponsors, ready to give financial support to a promising athlete.

In the improved version of the game we find a new, extraordinarily high level of difficulty, as well as many new ships.

Game modes

Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing can only be played solo. It is worth noting that missions are generated randomly, and the rules governing individual skirmishes can be really varied - apart from the classic death match (fight to death) we will also find clashes against waves of enemies and powerful bosses, and even.... dynamic races.

Technical aspects

Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing features an attractive audiovisual setting, which has been improved compared to the original - among other things, the effects accompanying explosions have been improved, making them more spectacular. However, the interesting artistic style, which proved its worth in the original game, has not been changed - we are still dealing with the same, rich palette of colors and style evoking associations with novels from the seventies of the twentieth century.

Unlike the original production, Last Captain Standing can be played both using VR goggles (only on PC or PlayStation 4), and traditionally, following the action on a TV or monitor screen. It is also worth noting that the owners of the base edition of Bow to Blood received Last Captain Standing in the form of a free update.
