Borderlands 3: Director's Cut

Borderlands 3: Director's Cut is an add-on for the first-person shooter with RPG elements Borderlands 3 released in 2019. The DLC includes several story missions, another boss to defeat and items. It was developed by Gearbox Software. The publisher is 2K Games.

Plot

The main storyline of the Director's Cut refers to mysterious murders that seem as if supernatural forces are involved. Players follow the trail provided to them by Ava as they search for new clues on Pandora, Promethea, Eden-6 and Nekrotafeyo.

Mechanics

The gameplay in the DLC Borderlands 3: Director's Cut doesn't differ significantly from what we're used to from the base game. The game is about exploring locations, fighting enemies, acquiring new loot, talking to characters and learning the storyline developed by the authors.

Apart from several new tasks, another dangerous boss is waiting for the players - Hemovorous the Invincible being a representative of insectoid race of Varkids. This opponent is a great challenge, but by defeating her we get a chance to get some of the most powerful loot in the game.

Director's Cut also introduces Vault Cards, which open the way for players to get packages of themed items (among them we can find equipment which is a tribute to fallen heroes from the Borderlands universe). Vault Cards can be discovered, activated and then reinforced.

Game modes

Borderlands 3: Director's Cut does not offer new game modes. The core remains the story campaign, which can be played solo or in co-op with three friends.

Technical aspects

Borderlands 3: Director's Cut does not introduce any changes to the graphic design of the base version of Borderlands 3.

The add-on also gives us access to extras presenting the behind-the-scenes of Borderlands 3 development - including graphics, storyboards and film clips.
