Borderlands 2: Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage

Borderlands 2: Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage for PC, PS3 and X360 is the second major DLC for the second installment in the post-apocalyptic first-person shooters series. The expansion was developed by Gearbox Software, just like the vanilla game.

Plot

The plot of the expansion revolves around a new Vault which was discovered buried in the center of a grand crater. Alas, in order to get it, one must perform a specific ritual in which the champion of Pandora feeds the crater with blood of a great coward. The contents of the vault appeals to the Torgue corporation so its bosses decide to organize a tournament that will reveal a new champion. The competition takes place on a specially prepared arena. Several well-known character, such as Tannis, Moxxi, and Tiny Tina, make an appearance in the expansion.

Mechanics

Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage for PC, PS3 and X360 offers new locations to visit and a decent set of fresh missions. The latter are interrupted by the well-known Circles of Slaughter tasks, during which the players has to defeat several waves of increasingly powerful enemies. The foes mostly come from the vanilla game but, at the same time, their appearance was adequately modified to match the plot and style of the expansion. The DLC also introduces new opponents, including new bosses such as the flamethrower-wielding Pyro Pete, Motor Mama that rides a powerfully-armed motorcycle, and Badassaurus Rex that resembles a cross between a tank and a mechanical dinosaur.

The DLC focuses primarily on spectacular battles which were designed to prove challenging even to seasoned players. At the same time, they offer a large variety so there is no room for boredom. Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage also introduces a new virtual currency of Torgue Tokens which is the only means of payment accepted by the vending machine near the crater. Only using them can we purchase special armaments manufactured by the Torgue corporation.
