Boom Ball 2 for Kinect Description
Boom Ball 2 for Kinect is a continuation of Boom Ball for Kinect, an arcade game for XONE released in 2014. The game was developed and released by Virtual Air Guitar Company, responsible for titles such as Kung-Fu High Impact. As per the title, the game is dedicated to Kinect 2.0 user interface.
Mechanics
Boom Ball 2 isn’t very different from the first installment. It’s an arcade game mixing the classic Arkanoid with ping pong and tennis. Our job is to bounce the ball against the elements found around the area. A somewhat simple gameplay is complemented by numerous power-ups, such as different kinds of balls or bonus tiles that offer extra rewards when struck. The game contains over 50 levels taking place in a few different locations, including paradise island, snowy mountain, crystal cave, a cloud city or even space.
The biggest addition of Boom Ball 2 is a local co-op mode. Each level can be completed alone, or by cooperating with a second player. In that case, the gameplay doesn’t differ much from a normal playthrough, but some of the harder levels are much easier thanks to a second pair of hands.
Technical Aspects
Boom Ball 2 has a similar visual style to its predecessor. As a result, the graphics are not very spectacular, but the character of the game counterbalances the visual side – the game is colorful, blocks explode in an eye-friendly way, while animation is fluent.
