Blue Reflection: Second Light Description
Blue Reflection: Second Light is a jRPG that is a sequel to Blue Reflection, released in 2017. Both games were developed by Gust studio, the authors of the Atelier series.
Plot
The player takes on the role of a Japanese high school girl named Ao Hoshi attending a strange school for girls. The academy is located on an island and none of the students remember how they got there. However, they know that this is not their world and they try to find a way to return to their own reality.
One day, a portal appears on the island, leading to a previously inaccessible location. Ao Hoshi and her friends decide to explore it. However, they are attacked by monsters on the spot. Fortunately, mystical powers awaken in the students, enabling them to survive. With their help, the girls begin to organize expeditions, hoping to learn the truth about this world and find their way back home.
They soon discover that the places they travel to are made up of fragments of their lost memories, making each trip an opportunity to recover their memory.
Mechanics
Blue Reflection: Second Light expands ideas from the previous part. What we get is a classic jRPG, in which we explore the world, complete tasks and develop heroines.
The key role in the game is played by combat. Battles take place in real time. The player does not control the characters directly and instead gives orders to team members during battles. The characters have many unique abilities and can combine attacks into powerful combos. The action pauses while using the command menu, allowing us to take all decisions calmly.
The time between expeditions we spend in school. There we develop relationships with other students, help them with various things, organize joint study sessions, and even go on dates with them. This affects not only the plot, but also allows you to unlock more powerful items to help in battles through crafting.
An important role is also played by improving the school. For the resources gained in expeditions, the player can construct new buildings and objects, such as a snack stand or a swimming pool, which allows to unlock new options in developing relationships with characters.
Game modes
Blue Reflection: Second Light offers a single player mode only.
Technical aspects
The game features fully 3D graphics in a style inspired by Japanese cartoons.
