The PC release of Bloodbath Kavkaz is a brutal top-down shooter developed by the Russian Dagestan Technology studios.
Plot
The game features a cartoonish vision of a criminal underworld operating in the modern-day Moscow. The main protagonist is an ex-hitman that goes by the name of Shamil Rakhmanov. One day, he gets into a serious car accident and as a result is caught by a mysterious man, who makes him an offer he cannot refuse – by the sunrise, Shamil has to find and murder Jafar the crime lord in charge of the biggest Moscow syndicate. Should Shamil fail, he dies himself. The story should be taken with a grain of salt; nonetheless, it holds many funny references to a pop culture.
Mechanics
The gameplay mechanics in Bloodbath Kavkaz revolve around a brutal and dynamic action, observed by players from the top down perspective. One controls his character’s movements with a keyboard, while the mouse serves to take aim. The main protagonist’s objective throughout the game is to exterminate all the enemies. Both Shamil and his foes have a huge arsenal at their disposal.
Bloodbath Kavkaz is, without question, a difficult game – even one mistake can lead to Shamil’s demise. In order to stay alive, players have to make use of the tools developers provided them with, i.a. slowing the time down and using objects from the highly interactive surroundings. Players can shoot exploding barrels, burn the enemies with steam venting from pipes they previously shot, fling open the doors, and turn off the lights in some rooms to disorientate the enemies.
Technical aspects
Apart from the single player campaign, the PC release of Bloodbath Kavkaz offers a free-roam mode, in which players can freely explore the virtual version of Moscow, as well as a competitive multiplayer, in which players can fight each other. Moreover, one can create any game location by himself using the level editor tool, and try his hand at the survival mode, trying to last as long as possible while fighting off the endless hordes of enemies.
