Blocky is an addictive 2D arcade style game with an RPG reward system.
The gameplay draws its influences from games such as Geometry Wars and Pacman. Arcade style games are always popular in the short term, but usually fail to captivate their audience in the long run. By adding a reward system and long term goals, it has added a refreshing twist on the typical arcade game.
The game has easy controls and simple game mechanics, which initially draws players into playing arcade games. The major difference with Blocky is that as the player performs well, they are rewarded with unlocks and currency to buy additional items. Use the power of the hammers, portals, teleportation and forks to destroy Blocky’s enemies. Avoid the nifty Ninjas, indestructible spikes, shocking sparks, homing horders, spinning chain balls, sneaky sliveres and Blocky’s arch nemesis the dreaded Bloxx.
The game has two game modes:
Retro mode: A survival style mode, where the player has one life and tries to last as long as they can.
Waves mode: A selection of levels that have different goals to proceed to the next level.
The heart of Blocky’s core is the reward system, to compel the user to keep on playing more and more. In the games industry we are seeing increasing awareness for the necessity of integrating rewards in to all games. ‘Achievements’/'Trophies’ and ‘Awards’ for Avatar’s are just the start of what is shaping up to be a significant driving force to immerse players. The unlockables include: stat increases of Blocky’s powers, items, Retro (gamemode) unlocks and stylish hats, to customise Blocky.
The more you play, the faster the game gets, the more enemies appear, the more power up to use, the more fun to be had!
Blocky will give you more than your 80 points worth of entertainment.
