Blazing Souls: Accelate is a strategic RPG produced by Neverland, a Japanese studio specializing in the production of role-playing and adventure games. The title is a revised port of Blazing Souls, which was released in 2006 on PlayStation 2. Unfortunately, in this version it never went to Western players. Conversion is the developer's third production designed for PSP.
The main character of the game is a young mercenary named Zero. He leads an interesting and intensive life. He travels the world, looking for fame and wealth, at the same time he executes well-paid orders from people he meets on the way. One day Zero finds a mysterious stone with a huge magical power and soon decides to find more artifacts of this kind. Reaching the next stones, he slowly discovers that they are connected with the upcoming apocalypse, whose heroines are Genomes - bizarre creatures to replace mankind extinct in the catastrophe.
During the game we fulfill a number of missions commissioned to us by the inhabitants of the world we travel through. Unlike the usual pattern, players must find new locations themselves. By spending special points, which we gain during the skirmishes, we can check if there is a place worth visiting in a selected part of the two-dimensional map of the world. As in most games of the genre, fights take place in turn-based mode. The characters we command have a wide range of movements and attacks. During duels, heroes can use more than 200 different items and skills.
Two-dimensional and animated battlefields and character models will appeal to fans of the genre, as well as feature interludes typical of Japanese RPG games with static illustrations and dialogues with heroes.
