Black Feather Forest for PC is an investigation adventure game developed by independent Dutch artist and developer Tim Hengeveld.
Plot
The story of Black Feather Forest for PC was inspired by series of authentic disappearances that occurred on a long and not popular highway located in British Columbia, a province of Canada. The player assumes the role of an African American woman named Sofia who creates documentary movies. Together with cameraman Caleb she goes to the Canadian city Augier’s Peak where three young girls disappeared without a trail. Player’s task is to solve the mystery, find the people responsible and save the girls or find their bodies. The scenario combines modern criminal story with elements inspired by beliefs of Haida, one of the eldest tribes of North America.
Mechanics
Black Feather Forest for PC is a classic investigation adventure game with point-and-click interface. During the game player mostly explores locations in order to find evidence and trails, gathers items, solves riddles and speaks to witnesses and potential suspects. The dialogue system is non-linear and decisions made during the game will shape the conversation and character’s attitude towards the protagonist.
Technical aspects
Black Feather Forest for PC offers attractive, two-dimensional graphics in slightly cartoonish style which fits well the serious topics of the scenario.
