BIT.TRIP FATE, released on Wii, PC and 3DS, is the sixth installment of the popular series of arcade and music games created by Gaijin Games studio, also responsible for the previous parts. We play the role of CommanderVideo, and our main task is to deal with hordes of enemies composed of a few pixels.

Mechanics

The core of the game is still harmonious interplay with the background music, to the rhythm of which we both overcome successive obstacles, as well as eliminate approaching opponents. This time, however, the authors decided to add a few elements characteristic for the classic shoot'em up genre. Our hero can take down enemies using the 360-degree shooting system, moving in the style known from the side-scrolling shooters. After connecting a gamepad, we will also use the twin-stick system, thanks to which we control the character with one analog stick and use the other one to shoot in the direction of approaching enemies.

As the stage progresses, CommanderVideo collects special red pluses that affect the length of the life bar. The special ranks that appear during the stage increase the combat abilities of the controlled hero. The game, like its predecessors, is characterized by a high level of difficulty.

Technical aspects

The graphics design of BIT.TRIP FATE brings to mind the golden age of 8-bit computers - both the main character and the enemies encountered during the game are clusters of a few pixels and the level designs are reminiscent of old platformers enriched with new lighting effects or animations. Soundtrack plays a significant role in this production - BIT.TRIP FATE offers us a dose of popular dubstep, to the rhythm of which we complete the levels.
