Beyond This Side is a point-and-click adventure game that tells a dark story despite its cartoon graphics. The game was developed by the independent Glim Games studio and released by Crescent Moon Games.
Plot
In Beyond This Side we follow Sam, whose wife went missing in mysterious circumstances six months ago. After the police made a macabre discovery in the form of her severed hand thrown away in a rubbish dump in one of the side alleys, the hero appears every day in this place, looking for any traces that could lead him to solve this puzzle. In the end, however, he discovers that this is not a typical case.
Mechanics
In Beyond This Side the action is shown from the side. During the game, we travel through dark locations, talk to NPCs and perform tasks for them, as well as solve increasingly complex puzzles, which gradually brings us closer to solving the mystery of the disappearance of the hero's wife. The puzzles consist of both searching for specific items and manipulating objects in the game world.
Technical aspects
The graphic design of Beyond This Side was maintained in cartoon style. The game, although colourful, is a source of anxiety, and this effect has been achieved mainly thanks to the various details of the visited locations, as well as the characters on whose faces fright appears.
