Beat Hazard Description
Beat Gambling is a two-dimensional shooting game in which levels, enemy settings and bonus distribution are determined by analyzing a song loaded by the player.
The basic gameplay mechanisms resemble typical automatic shooting. We fly in the arena on a small ship that has to face clouds of enemies and occasionally powerful bosses. Along the way we collect objects scattered on the board, which provide us with more firepower. What distinguishes Beat Hazard from typical production of this type is the way it creates levels. The game uses songs from our hard drive for this purpose. We point to the songs and the program analyzes them and on the basis of this determines the order of appearance of enemies, their strength, number, the frequency of drops of bonus items and similar elements. All this is prepared in such a way that it harmonizes perfectly with the played music. When the tempo of the song accelerates, the same happens with the action on the screen, while in the calmer parts of the game gives us a moment of rest.
In addition to the standard one-person mode, the developers also prepared a multiplayer option, in which two players fight against each other or join forces against the computer. Another addition is the survival mode, in which our task is to survive until the end of the whole album. The game features 25 Steam Achievements and a constantly updated ranking of players' scores, which allows us to see if others did a song better than we did.
Beat Hazard has simple and abstract graphics, which, however, can positively surprise the explosion of effects in more dynamic moments. The game is compatible with music files saved in mp3, wav, aiff, ogg, mwa and flac formats.
