Battlezone: Gold Edition Description
Battlezone: Gold Edition is a refreshed version of Battlezone, a video game released for eight generation consoles in 2016. The original version of the title required VR equipment. The new release dedicated to consoles, as well as PC / Windows enables the players to engage in virtual battles without virtual reality peripherals. Moreover, the developers included all DLCs released for the initial version of the game, including skins and the Classic Mode. The remaining elements hadn’t been changed. Interestingly enough, Gold Edition is distributed as a free update for the owners of the original Battlezone.
Plot
As could be expected from a shooter, Battlezone: Gold Edition is characteristic for its rather scanty storyline. When Earth has been attacked by aliens, the player assumes control of a modern battle tank with a mission to defeat enemy tanks, planes, and unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
Mechanics
Battlezone: Gold Edition is a remake of a classic shooter released in 1980 on coin operated machines, then converted and released on ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Atari ST and Apple II computers. The game was developed by Rebellion, an experience studio responsible for the titles such as Aliens vs Predator, or Sniper Elite series.
The action is seen from the first person perspective, while the world around us is built from futuristic locations filled with neon elements, characteristic of the science-fiction movies from 1980s, such as Tron. The gameplay offers dynamic action and sees us think-out our movements beforehand. The players assume control of futuristic tanks that engage various opponents, including defense turrets with laser cannons, rockets, and other powerful weapons. The levels are randomly generated, leaving us with a new battlefield each time we enter the game. The game offers a cooperation mode for up to four players.
