Urban Warfare is an expansion to the tactical turn-based strategy game called BattleTech. Like the base version of the game, the DLC was developed by Harebrained Schemes also known for creating the Shadowrun trilogy.
Mechanics
The biggest novelty introduced in the BattleTech: Urban Warfare involves moving the battles to the cities, which opens up completely new tactical possibilities for the players. Every building is prone to damage, so nothing stands in the way of hiding behind or destroying building elements, exposing enemy units to fire.
In addition, there are two new mechs - while the Javelin is specialized in short distance combat with moderate speed and firepower, the Raven 1X is equipped with electronic countermeasure systems (ECM) and an active probe. The former makes it invisible to both his and nearby allies' tracking systems, while the probe enables detection and tracking of enemy units with active ECM. On the other hand, the add-on introduces three new vehicles: the reconnaissance Rotunda with its active probe prototype, the Packrat with its ECM prototype and the fast, agile and well-armed Tank.
The list of novelties is closed by a previously unavailable type of mission, i.e. Attack and Defense. The task of the mercenaries is to destroy the enemy headquarters and defend their own base against the endless attacks of enemies. They are complemented by new Flashpoint, i.e. short stories consisting of interconnected missions, which were introduced in the previous DLC - Flashpoint.
Game modes
In BattleTech: Urban Warfare you can play alone or in the company of other players.
Technical aspects
Urban Warfare is not an independent expansion, so it requires the base version of the game to work.
